John Williams Sidelined for Season
Monday, September 13th , 2004
The doctors have spoken and John Williams of the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes didn't like what he heard. The 22-year-old reliever is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Williams sustained his season-ending injury during the Tri-City Dust Devils game yesterday at Dust Devil Stadium. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Salem-Keizer medical staff reported Williams had a torn ulnar collateral ligament and would be absent from the lineup for at least 14 months.
Crunching the numbers on Williams for the year, he has made 16 relief appearances, recorded 1 save and compiled a 1-1 won-lost mark and 3.04 ERA. In pitching 23.2 innings, he has totaled 21 strikeouts and 6 walks.
