NORW Names Most Valuable Player Award Winner
Tuesday, September 27th , 2005
At the age of 22, John Bowker of the Billings Mustangs could very well have his best years ahead of him.
It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 2005 was good enough to win the first baseman the Northwest League Most Valuable Player Award.
"See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach."
The top hitter put up a .428 batting average this year, as well as a .520 on-base percentage. He played 78 games and racked up 121 hits, 26 doubles, no triples, 46 home runs, 116 RBIs and 94 runs scored.
He received 14 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Ivan Terrazas of the Billings Mustangs finished second in voting, while Rob Marconi of the Billings Mustangs finished third.
