Biguenet Belts 3 HR for Sand Gnats
Friday, July 16th , 2004
Savannah Sand Gnats catcher Michael Biguenet sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little.

Prior to the start of today's contest with the Kannapolis Intimidators, Biguenet told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times.

"During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber."

The big day from Biguenet pushed the Sand Gnats past the Intimidators, 6-4. To go along with the homers, he collected 3 RBIs and scored 3 runs.

"I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Biguenet told reporters after the game.

Michael Biguenet hit a solo-shot off Craig Szado in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Craig Szado in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Craig Szado in the 6th and singled in the 8th.

For the season, Biguenet has produced 79 hits in 280 at-bats for a .282 average with 20 home runs and gotten on base at a .380 clip.
Rohena Socks It to Timber Rattlers, Cracks 5 Hits
Tuesday, July 13th , 2004
Angel Rohena was sizzling at the plate. In a game played at Fox Cities Stadium, the Augusta right fielder blistered the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers for 5 hits in 6 at-bats to pace his club to a good 9-6 victory.

"Rohena was too tough to get out," Timber Rattlers skipper Josh Gast said in his postgame interview. "No matter what we threw him, he hit it. And he hit some good pitches, too."

Angel Rohena singled in the 2nd, struck out in the 4th, hit a two-run double in the 6th, singled in the 8th, doubled in the 10th and hit a two-run home run off Kellen Ludwig in the 12th.

At present, Rohena is batting .219 with 35 hits and 6 home runs. He has knocked in 27 runs and scored 20 times.
Red Stixx End Snyder Streak
Monday, July 12th , 2004
The Columbus Red Stixx pitching staff did its job, holding hot-hitting Brian Snyder hitless in 3 at-bats during the club's 5-2 victory over the Delmarva Shorebirds at Golden Park. The disappointing performance ended a 20-game hitting streak for the third baseman.

"I'm a little down right now," Snyder said after the game. "I couldn't get anything going when the team needed me, and I hated to see the streak end, too."

In the 2004 season Snyder is hitting .309 with 13 home runs.
