Burlington's Romero Top Pitcher in July

Ricky Romero of the Burlington Bees is the Midwest League Pitcher of the Month. In July, he sparkled and shined on the mound with 4 wins and no losses in 6 starts.
Romero checked opposing batters on 24 base hits and a .186 batting average. He rang up 28 strikeouts in 37 innings of work, surrendered 14 walks and fashioned a 2.19 ERA.
Over the season Romero has thrown 111.1 innings and dished out 86 strikeouts with a 7-4 mark and a 3.40 ERA.

Bruce Takes Home MIDW Top Batter Award

Not known for his offensive prowess, Jay Bruce set the league afire in July and took home the Midwest League Batter of the Month award.
The Cedar Rapids right fielder posted a steady .433 batting average, 11 home runs, 39 RBIs and 27 runs.
Looking at his season stats, Bruce has compiled a .413 batting average and a .493 on-base percentage, while hitting 12 home runs and driving in 43 runs.
