Fransz Goes Downtown 3 Times Against Rangers
Tuesday, May 25th , 2004
Wilmington left fielder Jason Fransz saw a fantastic day go to waste at Charlotte Sports Park as the Blue Rocks lost, 9-8, despite a trio of home runs from the youngster.
"It seems kinda odd, you know?" a somewhat dejected Fransz said after his club's defeat. "I mean, hitting three home runs in one game should be enough to win a game, right? I guess that's why they call it a team sport. Tomorrow I might strike out four times and other guys pick me up and we win. It takes more than one guy to get a win."
The 23-year-old tallied three homers in a 3-for-5 day, and added 5 RBIs and 3 scored.
"That guy really had a game, didn't he?" said Port Charlotte manager Angel Vazquez. "Luckily we were able to shut down the rest of the team. We are feeling good about getting out of here with the win."
Jason Fransz struck out in the 2nd, flied out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Andy Gros in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Luis Marcano in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Rick Bauer in the 9th.
In his season totals Fransz has 6 home runs and a .457 batting average.
