Braves Chill Gilbert's Hot Streak Saturday, July 17th , 2032 Evan Gilbert, right fielder for the Brevard County Manatees, gave it a good try, but his time chasing history came to an end when he went hitless in 4 tries against the Tofield Braves today. Not only did the Braves break his 25-game hitting streak, they also beat Brevard County by the score of 4-2. "Now that the streak has ended, I can admit I'll breathe a bit easier the next time I step up to bat," Gilbert said, speaking with the media after the game. "It was tough because I put a little pressure on myself. Now that it's over, I will definitely be a little bit looser at the plate." This season Gilbert is swinging the bat at a .363 pace. He has hit 26 home runs and scored 75 times, while driving in 96. His on-base percentage is .418 and he has played in 88 games. |
