Cervelli Raps 3 HR Against Quakes Thursday, August 11th , 2005 Francisco Cervelli added his name in the record books after an explosive home run spree against the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes. But despite joining the select list of sluggers to hit three home runs in a game, it didn't guarantee a victory. The San Bernardino Stampede fell to the Quakes, 8-5. In his big day at The Ranch, the San Bernardino catcher went 3-for-3 with 4 RBIs and scored 3 times. "It was just one of those days," he told BNN sportswriters in the postgame interview. "I don't know how to explain it. I'm just putting a good swing on the ball. "You would think three homers would win most games. It was good to hit 'em, but a win would have really made my day." Francisco Cervelli hit a two-run home run off Rylan Reed in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Rylan Reed in the 4th, walked in the 5th and hit a solo-shot off Matt Avery in the 8th. So far this year, Cervelli is batting .299 with 26 home runs. |
