Manatees Top Highlanders in Rookie League Classic Sunday, October 12th , 2031 With a 7-5 win over the Inverness Highlanders tonight at Cyclone Alley, the Brevard County Manatees wrapped up their 1st title in team history. Brevard County left little doubt who was the better club. "Team" was the word of the day as the Manatees celebrated the culmination of their banner year in the victors clubhouse following the game. "Hitting, pitching, fielding; those are all things you need to win, but most importantly you need a team, a team that works together toward the same collective goal," said Brevard County manager Darrell Kaiser. "Our players felt that way all year and they played that way. When one guy had an off day, 24 others stepped up their game and filled the void." A jovial mood filled the air as Brevard County celebrated into the night. The city's mayor said parade plans were underway and a "huge celebration" in the works. "We're going to celebrate our team, our championship Brevard County Manatees," the mayor said. The champions completed the regular season with a second-place finish in the Zaphod Conference Beeblebrox Division and a 76-64 record. View Boxscore |
