Lumberjacks Advance to League Championship
Wednesday, September 22nd , 2032
The British Columbia Lumberjacks took time to celebrate with the British Columbia fans who stuck around after the game, following the team's Division Championship triumph over the Kauai Chiefs.
Members of the Lumberjacks hung around chatting, high-fiving and taking pictures with the British Columbia fans in attendance at Roberto Clemente Park, long after the last pitch had been thrown in their 7-2 win to seal the series 4-1.
"We've got great fan support," said left fielder George Foster. "Whether we're at home or on the road, the fans support us. So we wanted to show them how important that is to us. Some Kauai fans that were there even congratulated us on the win."
For the series, Foster hit .435 with a .435 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, 2 RBI and scored 3 runs.
Things weren't so cordial on the Chiefs side of things. Their clubhouse was closed to media after the game and all players and coaches quickly dressed and left the stadium after the end to their season.
The British Columbia Lumberjacks will play against the Whistler Avalanche in the next round. Whistler won their series against the South Bend Cubs 4 games to 0. The League Championship schedule will be announced after the Division Championship finishes.
