Montés Belts Bunch of Base Hits Thursday, July 1st , 2027 It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Juan Montés today -- a 5-hit effort. He went on a rampage at Staples Center and paced the Braves to a 7-5 win over the Juarez Buzzards. After his dynamite batting performance, the Tofield left fielder told reporters that he "just tried to get in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control." His philosophy paid dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 6 tries and put his name in the record book. Juan Montés hit a solo-shot off Rafael Vargas in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th, singled in the 10th and struck out in the 11th.
