Texas Blanks Reds, Correia Wins

Kevin Correia was in a zone of his own most of the day, shutting out the Cincinnati Reds on 7 hits.
"He was too darn good for us today," grumbled Cincinnati manager Alexis Sanchez after the 5-0 loss to the Texas Rangers.
Correia finished with 4 strikeouts and 1 walk in a strong outing.
In the postgame press conference, Texas manager Mark LeBlanc said Correia "had good velocity, good movement and had those guys off balance. He just pitched his butt off."
This season in 21 starts, Kevin Correia has a record of 6-6 with 93 strikeouts in 127 innings and a 4.46 ERA.

Tampa Bay's Caughey to Miss Season
Saturday, July 23rd , 2005
Trevor Caughey has to call it a season. The Tampa Bay Devil Rays reliever sustained a season-ending injury against the Boston Red Sox and will not play again this year according to club doctors. Caughey was injured while throwing a pitch. His doctors diagnosed it as a torn ulnar collateral ligament and stated that he would not be able to play for 9 months.
So far this year, Caughey has no saves in 21 relief appearances with a 0-0 record and 5.30 ERA.

Cleveland Punchless in 8-0 Loss to Padres
Friday, July 22nd , 2005
San Diego Padres pitcher Tomo Ohka blanked the Cleveland Guardians, 8-0, at Jacobs Field, tossing a 1-hitter while issuing 2 walks and collecting 5 strikeouts.
After his sharp shutout performance, he shared credit with the rest of the club.
"I was just locked in out there and some of that is due to having a catcher who has such a great feel for hitters," Ohka said. "I couldn't do what I did without all the guys out there today."
This season, Ohka has 13 wins and 3 losses and a 3.22 ERA.
