Highlanders Move on to Rookie League Classic
While it wasn't a complete mismatch, the Inverness Highlanders showed themselves to be the superior team in the League Championship, downing the Whistler Avalanche 4-1.

"Nothing is ever easy in the VBL Rookie League playoffs. Whether you're a favorite or an underdog, you can't take anyone lightly or you'll get burned," said Teika Kitamura, who was named series MVP after a standout offensive performance.

Inverness won the final game by a 2-1 count at Jackie Robinson Park to clinch its spot in the next round.

They will hope to once again rely on Kitamura there, as he hit .450 with 1 home runs, 6 RBI 5 runs scored during the series.

The Inverness Highlanders don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Brevard County Manatees - Moss Beach Mosquitos series. Brevard County leads the series 3 games to 1. The Rookie League Classic schedule will be announced after the League Championship finishes.
