Darren Byrd Sidelined for Season
Friday, May 6th , 2005
When AZL reliever Darren Byrd was taken out of the game, the crowd at the Giants-Brewers game went silent as they could tell that it was a serious injury. That was confirmed today by doctors when they revealed that Byrd had sustained a torn flexor tendon in his elbow and will be out for about 14 months.
This year, Byrd has earned 2 saves, worked 4.1 innings, fanned 5 hitters and recorded a 4.15 ERA. He has also put up a 1-1 won-lost mark.
