Jackson Belts 3 HR for Orioles Sunday, September 11th , 2005 The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Vermont Expos. Bluefield center fielder Austin Jackson tripled up on the home runs to propel the Orioles to a win, 8-6, at Centennial Field. "We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Vermont manager Victor Lopez said. "Jackson hit the heck out of the ball." In addition to the homers, Jackson collected 3 hits in 5 at-bats, 4 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings." Austin Jackson hit a solo-shot off Danny Reyes in the 2nd, flied out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Victor Perez in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off Dave Castillo in the 7th and flied out in the 9th. Jackson is currently hitting .302 with 11 home runsand 47 RBIs, while scoring 38 runs. |
