Quijada Slaps 5 Hits
Saturday, August 20th , 2005
Hudson Valley left fielder Juan Quijada had a big day at Dutchess Stadium against the Staten Island Yankees. The 20-year-old, who is not typically considered a big threat with the bat, went 5-for-5 and led to the 13-4 Renegades triumph over Staten Island.
"Hey, I'm as surprised as you guys are," Quijada said in his postgame comments, smiling as he scolded the press corps for underestimating him. "Maybe I'm not so bad at the plate after all."
Juan Quijada doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 7th.
For the year, Quijada is batting .314 with 50 hits and 17 home runs. He has scored 26 times and driven in 42.
