Howell, on Top of His Game, Beats Lakewood, 6-0
Saturday, June 5th , 2004
The Lakewood BlueClaws ran into a buzzsaw at FirstEnergy Park, as Capital City Bombers starter Michael Howell cut them down to size, 6-0, tossing a 5-hit shutout.
"That's one thing that has never changed in this game -- pitching can control hitting," Bombers manager Josh Adams told reporters after the game. "Michael knows exactly what he's doing. He's not going to throw you a good pitch until you make him throw one."
In the complete game win, the Capital City hurler doled out no walks and registered 11 strikeouts.
Up to now Howell has recorded a record of 4-2. In 11 starts he has fanned 87 batters in 73.1 innings with a 2.82 ERA.
