Great Day for Clark -- 5 Hits
Friday, July 9th , 2004
Speaking with reporters after a dominating hitting performance, Chris Clark said his club's tilt with the West Michigan Whitecaps "felt almost like batting practice." The 21-year-old catcher went a remarkable 5-for-7 at the plate.

"I saw the ball well and could just about hit it anywhere I wanted," he recalled later.

However, his sensational day wasn't enough for the Quad Cities River Bandits, who were topped by the Whitecaps, 12-8.

"It's a good lesson for him, I guess," River Bandits manager Ricky Vargas said. "Sometimes Chris is going to lose. But I would rather him go 5-for-7 and lose than go 0-for-7 and lose."

Chris Clark hit an RBI single in the 1st, doubled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, doubled in the 7th, grounded out in the 9th and flied out in the 11th.

At present, Clark is batting .223 and has collected 13 home runs, 42 RBIs, .303 OBP and scored 30 runs.
