Mets Nick Mattioni to Miss Year Wednesday, August 4th , 2004 The season is apparently over for Nick Mattioni. The St. Lucie Mets medical staff informed the club that the reliever will be out at least 10 months with a stretched elbow ligament. Mattioni was hurt in the game against High Desert while throwing a pitch. The doctors did not think he would recover prior to the end of the season. This year, Mattioni is 1-and-1 with 1 save and a 3.58 ERA. He has given up 33 hits in 37.2 innings with 29 strikeouts. |
