Thompson Goes Hitless, Streak Stopped at 20 Thursday, May 6th , 2032 The Archbishop McCarthy Aggies lost to the El Toro Elephants 3-1 today at Safeco Field, but perhaps the bigger news was the end of Chet Thompson's 20-game hitting streak. The second baseman went 0-for-4 on the day. "We felt if we could slow down Thompson, we would win the game," Elephants manager Ryan Zimmerman explained. "They really seemed to feed off his streak, so we tried to put more emphasis on shutting him down." This season Thompson has banged out 32 hits in 79 at-bats for a .405 average with 2 home runs. He is getting on base at a .447 pace and his totals also include 12 RBIs and 15 runs scored. |
