De La Cruz Goes 5-for-7 Against Birmingham Friday, May 27th , 2005 Some days you can't win for losing. Just ask Chris De La Cruz -- he was the King of Swing against the Barons, but his Diamond Jaxx were beaten, 7-6, anyway. The West Tenn third baseman had 7 chances against Birmingham and delivered 5 hits in a sensational game. "Unbelievable feeling," he told the press. "It felt great to be hitting like that, but a downer when you look at the scoreboard. 5-for-7 does wonders for your confidence, but it's a shame we couldn't win, too." Chris De La Cruz doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, walked in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th, grounded out in the 9th, grounded out in the 11th and singled in the 13th. De La Cruz currently has a .298 batting average with 28 hits, 3 homers, 14 RBIs, 16 runs scored and a .377 OBP. |
