Jochems Packs a Wallop -- Hits 3 HR Against Hounds Sunday, August 17th , 2031 Lambert Jochems went yard three times in a West Monroe Monarchs victory over the Pope High School Hounds at Blue Wings Ballpark today. "I was in a groove," he said. "Every pitch they tossed up there looked like a grapefruit." For the day, the West Monroe left fielder went 4-for-5 against Pope High School with 7 RBIs and 3 runs scored in a brilliant display of power hitting that led the Monarchs to the 8-5 win. "I tell you what. I'm shocked because I didn't think that last ball had enough to get out," he told BNN reporters in the clubhouse following the game. "I thought it was just going to be a long out." Lambert Jochems hit an RBI double in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Hedde Jansen in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off John Daniels in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Carlos Ramos in the 8th. This year Jochems has socked 100 hits in 316 at-bats for a .316 average with 21 home runs. He is getting on base at a .386 pace and his totals also include 58 RBIs and 58 runs scored. |
