Gaines Torches Bulldogs for 5 Hits Friday, July 4th , 2031 Carl Gaines really did a number on the Sullivan West Bulldogs -- and the Sullivan West did one right back on Gaines's Tigers, taking the Varsity Field contest 5-4. Gaines delivered a huge 5-for-5 performance for Cowetta, but did not deliver the victory. "I felt real good in the batter's box today," the 15-year-old right fielder said after putting up a game for the ages. "I had confidence in my swing and knew that it was there and that I could get the job done." Carl Gaines singled in the 1st, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run single in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and singled in the 9th. Gaines has collected 74 hits for the Tigers this year, 18 of them home runs. He has also netted 52 RBIs and scored 45 runs while batting .343. View Boxscore |
