Smith Crushes 3 Homers Against San Antonio Friday, August 13th , 2004 Wichita right fielder David Smith blasted three homers at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium in the 12-3 Wranglers victory over the San Antonio Missions. For the game, David Smith scored 4 times and knocked in 5 runs. When he hit his last home run, his teammates, hearing the crack of the bat, leaped off the bench and rushed on the field to greet the jubilant Smith when he reached home plate. "It was just one game, but it sure was a lot of fun -- 4-for-5, three roundtrippers and a win," a gleeful Smith told BNN reporters in a postgame interview. "What a day." David Smith singled in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Tetsu Yofu in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Jared Hoerman in the 5th, struck out in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Jeff Heaverlo in the 8th. Thus far this year, Smith is hitting .324 with 29 home runs, 75 RBIs and 70 runs scored. |
