Fernández 5-for-5 Against Louisiana-Lafayette Friday, June 4th , 2032 Florida Atlantic catcher Jesús Fernández added his name to the record books with a 5-hit spree at M. L. Tigue Moore Field today, but found his special moment spoiled when the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns took a shootout win over the Owls. "I would have much preferred getting only a couple of hits and winning the game," he confessed to reporters afterward. "It's hard to go back into the clubhouse and celebrate a 5-hit game when you also lost." Owls manager William Lord called Fernández's game "a once-in-a-lifetime moment." "It's a shame the guy can't really enjoy it," the skipper said. "It's also a shame what happened with our pitching today, but at least that we can try to fix." Jesús Fernández singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
