Splittorff Pounds 3 HR Against Golden Hurricane Friday, May 28th , 2032 Troy Trojans left fielder Jeff Splittorff sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little. Prior to the start of today's contest with the Tulsa Golden Hurricane, Splittorff told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times. "During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber." The big day from Splittorff pushed the Trojans past the Golden Hurricane, 9-6. To go along with the homers, he collected 4 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Splittorff told reporters after the game. Jeff Splittorff hit a solo-shot off Ryan White in the 2nd, walked in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Ray MacKnight in the 5th, walked in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Matt Atkinson in the 9th. For the season Splittorff is currently batting .365 with 14 home runs and 36 RBIs. In 32 games he has reached base at a .405 rate and scored 29 runs to date. |
