Penn State Stops Holden's Hit Streak
Saturday, September 6th , 2031
Late in the game, all eyes in M. L. Tigue Moore Field were on Kyle Holden as he stepped into the batter box. His 21-game hitting streak was on the line, and he had a zero in the hit column on the day. Sadly for Holden, it was not meant to be -- the zero would stay and the streak would end.

If there was a silver lining for Holden today, it was that his Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns won the game anyway, stopping the Penn State Nittany Lions by the score of 5-3.

"Winning took some of the disappointment out of it," Holden told reporters in the clubhouse. "Looking back on it, it was a great experience. Not too many players can say they had a hit in 21 straight games. It's something I will always remember."

This season Holden has 24 home runs and a .428 batting average.
