Maui Halts Rodríguez's Hitting Steak Saturday, July 24th , 2032 Lowell third baseman Fernando Rodríguez went 0-for-4 today in Lowell's 8-3 triumph over the Maui Legends, snapping his 20-game hitting streak. Rodríguez spoke to BNN after the game and said he "knew the hitting streak would end sooner or later." "I just would have preferred later," he said with a laugh. "It was fun though." When Rodríguez made an out in his last chance at the plate, his teammates congratulated him in the dugout. In the clubhouse after the game, he seemed unbothered by the streak ending. "There's nothing scientific about it, that's for sure," Legends manager Scott Downs said of Rodríguez's streak. "He had a nice little run. Let him start another one when we finish the series here." Rodríguez on the season is batting .280 with 13 home runs. His totals include 56 RBIs and 69 runs scored. He has played in 78 games. |
