CL Announces Outstanding Player Award

Gonzalo Martínez took VBL Double A by storm this year, and he did it all at the age of 20.

For his spectacular campaign, the Wrigleyville Cursed Billy Goats star has been named the 2031 Coppinger League Pat Meares Award recipient.

"To be considered amongst the best in the league is overwhelming," said the left fielder.

On the season he compiled a .342 batting average to go with a .416 on-base percentage. The native of Cumana, Venezuela also added 32 doubles, 4 triples, 28 home runs, 90 RBIs and 95 runs scored.

He received 16 first place votes out of a possible 32. Mark Reynolds of the Indy Rangers finished second in voting with 15 first place votes, while Tim Jackson of the Isla Vista Sharkeez finished third with 1 first place vote.
