Takata Nabs ML Pat Meares Award
Thursday, October 23rd , 2031
At the age of 23, Mochihito Takata of the Weyerhaeuser Lumberjacks could very well have his best years ahead of him.
It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 2031 was good enough to win the left fielder the Meares League Pat Meares Award.
"See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach."
The top hitter put up a .300 batting average this year, as well as a .380 on-base percentage. He played 122 games and racked up 140 hits, 29 doubles, 5 triples, 16 home runs, 69 RBIs and 89 runs scored.
He received 7 first place votes out of a possible 32. Pancho Garza of the Montreal Polar Bears finished second in voting with 8 first place votes, while Nigel Mchugh of the St. Lucie Mets finished third with 8 first place votes.
