Blue Jays Dominate, Sweep Final Four
Friday, September 30th , 2005
Many baseball pundits expected a close series in the Virtual Baseball League Final Four. It turned out quite a bit different.
The Toronto Blue Jays swept aside the San Diego Padres to advance to the Championship, winning the final game by a 7-3 score at SkyDome.
The series MVP was center fielder Alex Rios, who hit .312 with a .389 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 2 runs.
"We expected this series to go right down to the wire, so to sweep is a bit of a surprise," he said. "But we'll take it."
The Toronto Blue Jays don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Oakland Athletics - Atlanta Braves series. Atlanta leads the series 2 games to 1. The Championship schedule will be announced after the Final Four finishes.
