McLouth Powers 3 HR Against New York
Tuesday, May 3rd , 2005
Nate McLouth must believe in the Big Bang theory. He proved it by banging three deep against the New York Yankees. The hard-hitting Pittsburgh Pirates center fielder added a lot of firepower and excitement to the 6-3 Pirates win, leaving fans and the opposing dugout buzzing about his standout performance.

"He looked real good today," New York manager Scott Erickson said later. "I think the guys were awful impressed by him. Frustrated, but impressed."

For the game, McLouth had 3 hits in 4 at-bats, drove in 4, and scored 3 runs. The 23-year-old is known in league circles as a tireless worker, and told reporters he has recently been putting in extra time fine-tuning his swing, "to keep it short, compact and simple."

"Looks like it worked today," he said.

Nate McLouth hit a two-run home run off Bartolo Colon in the 2nd, grounded out in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Bartolo Colon in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Carlos Martinez in the 8th.

McLouth is hitting at a .268 mark this season. His stats show 4 home runs, 7 RBIs and 8 runs scored. He has played 23 games for the Pirates.
