Jones Raps 3 Homers Against Yankees
Tuesday, April 19th , 2005
Anaheim Angels left fielder Chipper Jones put on a dazzling display of power at Yankee Stadium against the New York Yankees. In the 13-3 Angels victory, Jones penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts.

"He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," New York manager Scott Erickson said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well."

Along with his three home runs, the 32-year-old had 3 hits in 4 at-bats, 6 RBIs and 3 runs scored.

"Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Jones said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today."

Chipper Jones hit a three-run home run off Vicente Padilla in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Elizardo Ramirez in the 2nd, walked in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Elizardo Ramirez in the 6th and grounded out in the 8th.

This year, Jones is hitting .438, produced 9 RBIs and 4 home runs, scored 15 times and gotten on base at a .548 rate.
