Bang-up Game: Everett Slams 3 Homers
Wednesday, April 6th , 2005
Some days you can't have it all, as Arizona Diamondbacks right fielder Carl Everett discovered when he cracked three homers against the San Diego Padres, and still lost.

"I have mixed emotions about this game," he said. "It's great to hit three homers, but it's hard to be happy when you lose the game."

The 33-year-old got his name in the league record books, but the Padres walked away with the triumph, 7-6, at Bank One Ballpark. Everett finished the day with 3 hits in 4 at-bats and 3 RBIs.

"I got three balls to hit and nailed all three of them," he said in the postgame interview.

Carl Everett walked in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Jake Peavy in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Jake Peavy in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Steve Karsay in the 9th.
