Reds Spill Rockies, 3-2
|
The Cincinnati Reds defeated the Colorado Rockies, 3-2, in part because of first baseman Adam Dunn. Dunn hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Reds. Julio De La Cruz was the winner. He's now 1-1. The loser was John Thomson. The save went to Kyle Farnsworth, his 16th this season.
Dunn contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Cincinnati in the top of the third. With his team trailing 1-0, Dunn took a fastball from John Thomson and stroked the home run to right-center. His 19th home run of the season allowed the Reds to leap in front, 2-1.
"We busted our tails," said Colorado manager Tony Whittaker. "But we came up short."
Cincinnati, at 30-40, occupies 22nd place in the Virtual Baseball League.
