Blue Jays Score Late, Topple Reds, 3-2
|
The Toronto Blue Jays got a marvelous performance from pitcher Barry Zito. The left-hander kept the Cincinnati offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 3-2 Toronto victory at SkyDome. Toronto reliever Steve Kline snagged the win, upping his record to 2-1. Dustin Moseley shouldered the loss. The save went to Jay Witasick, his 20th this season.
Toronto took advantage of an error in the bottom of the eighth inning. The game was tied, 2-2, when Hideki Matsui hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Blue Jays in front, 3-2.
Toronto manager Buck Martinez called it "a good, solid win."
The winning streak has now reached 4 games for Toronto.
