Staples Center was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Echo Park Lakers and Oklahoma City Cyclones.
The Echo Park Lakers topped the Oklahoma City Cyclones, 6-5, in Anderson League action at Staples Center. The game was highlighted by the performance of Echo Park pitcher John Coxall. The winner was Echo Park reliever Carlos Pérez, now 2-2. The loser was Paul Dodson.
The Lakers got a big at-bat from third baseman Alejandro Mendoza. For the game, Mendoza went 2 for 4 with a double. He drove in 3 runs. In the bottom of the third, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 22nd double of the season gave Echo Park a 3-1 lead.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Oklahoma City manager John Smoltz. "The effort was great."
Oklahoma City has now lost 4 straight.
