Cubs Prevail, 3-2, Over Cincinnati
|
Wrigley Field was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds.
In a tight tilt between the Chicago Cubs and the Cincinnati Reds, Carlos Zambrano was the deciding factor. The Chicago right-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. The winner was Zambrano. He threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Carlos E. Hernandez. The save went to Ryan Madson, number 10 for him.
Zambrano had a consequential at-bat in the bottom of the fourth for the Cubs. Coming up with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Chicago trailing 2-1, he hit a 2-run single.
"Carlos pounded the strike zone and made good pitches when he needed to," said Chicago manager Don Baylor.
Chicago now has a record of 22-18 with the win.
