Late Rally by Brewers Locks Up 5-4 Win
|
Getting a good performance from shortstop Chris Woodward, the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the New York Mets, 5-4. Woodward was 4 for 5 with a home run, a triple, and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Brewers. Mike Adams, now 2-0, was credited with the win in 1 innings of relief. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits, while striking out 0 and walking 0. The win elevated the Brewers to 19-14.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With two out, Woodward hit a curveball from Terry Adams for a solo home run. The Brewers, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"It's great when the crowd is energized," Woodward said.
