Luis Castillo was the difference-maker for the Detroit Tigers in what turned into a shootout with the Texas Rangers. Castillo, who finished 4th in the VBL in stolen bases with 58 in 2001, went 2-for-3 in the 14-9 Tigers win. The 'W' lifts Detroit's record to 67-92.

The game was at a stalemate until catcher Jorge Posada came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Texas pitcher Sean Lowe, he hit a full count fastball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Detroit on top, 8-6.

"It was one of those games where both teams were swinging the bat well," Posada said.
