Braves Suffer 3-1 Road Loss
The Cleveland Guardians topped the Atlanta Braves, 3-1, in Virtual Baseball League action at Jacobs Field. The standout performance belonged to Cleveland pitcher and Damascus, Maryland, native Brandon Matheny. Earning his 36th save of the year was Danys Baez. The Guardians win now puts them at 77-82.

Nick Swisher had a big solo home run for the Guardians in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Cleveland leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he got a cutter from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Jason Scobie and swatted a home run to right-center. It was his 23rd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Guardians ahead, 2-0.

"Brandon kept his poise and got the job done," said Cleveland manager Charlie Manuel. "He was outstanding."
