Giants Trip Angels, 6-2
|
The San Francisco Giants picked up a win at Edison International Field, topping the Anaheim Angels, 6-2. On the mound for San Francisco was right-hander Jon Lieber. He played a principal role in the triumph. Lieber, now 14-12, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 4, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. San Francisco raised its record to 87-70 with the win.
Shin-Soo Choo was 1-4 with a walk for San Francisco. The 23-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the third. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring single off Matt Morris. It was his 162nd hit of the season.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Choo. "You've got to get results."
