Guardians Pull Out Late Win, 3-2
|
The Cleveland Guardians knocked off the Minnesota Twins, 3-2, in Virtual Baseball League action at Jacobs Field. Cleveland pitcher and Damascus, Maryland, native Brandon Matheny had an outstanding performance. Danys Baez earned the save for Cleveland, his 32nd. At 70-79, the Guardians are currently 17th in the Virtual Baseball League.
Kevin Youkilis helped out the Cleveland cause in the bottom of the first inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the first baseman drew 1 walk in 4 trips to the plate.
"You have to win 1-0, 3-2, 2-1 games if you want to get to where you want to go," said Guardians manager Charlie Manuel.
