Orioles Suffer 5-3 Home Defeat
|
The Milwaukee Brewers picked up a win at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, knocking off the Baltimore Orioles, 5-3. Starting pitcher Carl Pavano played a key role in the triumph. Pavano yielded 3 runs over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 12-11. Earning the save was Mike Adams. He's now cashed in 39 of 44 save opportunities.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Wes Helms? The Milwaukee third baseman had a bases-clearing double in the top of the third inning to put the Brewers on top, 5-0. For the game, Helms had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Carl made some big pitches when he needed to," said Brewers manager Jimy Williams.
With the win, Milwaukee upped its record to 81-65.
