Burnette Torches Eagles for 5 Hits
|
John Burnette put on a hitting clinic today as the Huntington Beach Sharks dumped the Elma Eagles 7-2 at Ballpark of Colorado Springs HS.
The Huntington Beach shortstop made Elma defenders earn their pay, lashing Elma pitching for 5 hits in 5 at-bats in the game. He told BNN reporters after the game that his strategy was "just hit it where they pitched it."
"Too often I try too hard to pull the ball," Burnette said in his postgame press conference. "Today, I just went with the pitch."
John Burnette hit a solo-shot off Mahine Pakiana in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Mahine Pakiana in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
On the year Burnette is hitting .290 with 88 hits, 17 home runs, 45 RBIs, .330 OBP and has scored 46 runs.
