Cincinnati Earns 4-3 Win
|
The Cincinnati Reds racked up a win at Pac Bell Park, bumping off the San Francisco Giants, 4-3, in 11 innings. Julio De La Cruz, who started for Cincinnati, pitched effectively for his team. Cincinnati reliever Scott Sauerbeck picked up the win, upping his record to 5-2. Bob Howry took the loss. Cincinnati is now 56-80, San Francisco 75-61.
Cincinnati used the clutch hitting of Bobby Kielty to snag the win. The right fielder drilled a solo home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Reds ahead, 4-3. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
Cincinnati manager Alexis Sanchez commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
