The Texas Rangers downed the Pittsburgh Pirates, 11-0, at The Ballpark in Arlington. Stellar pitching by Dallas Braden had a lot to do with it. The left-hander handcuffed his opponent all game. Braden, now 6-11, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 2, walking 2, and allowing no runs. Texas's record now stands at 59-79, placing them 23rd in the Virtual Baseball League.

The Rangers got a big hit from second baseman Julio Hernandez. Facing Pittsburgh pitcher Scott Linebrink in the bottom of the sixth, Hernandez pounded a 3-run home run to left-center. His 9th home run of the season put the Rangers ahead, 11-0.

Pittsburgh manager Kevin Birdwell called the blowout loss "undesirable."
