Late Rally by Yankees Secures 5-1 Win
The New York Yankees downed the Detroit Tigers, 5-1, at Comerica Park. Stellar pitching by Bartolo Colon had a lot to do with it. The right-hander handcuffed his opponent all game. Carlos Martinez, credited with the win in relief, is now 9-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 0.2 innings. Robb Nen closed the game out for New York, earning his 26th save.

New York needed the clutch hitting of Ichiro Suzuki to seal the deal. The right fielder swatted a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Yankees on top, 3-1. For the game, Suzuki had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Suzuki told the New York Daily News.

The win puts New York at 70-62 this season.
