Pirates Take Home 3-2 Win Over Anaheim
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Anaheim Angels, David Bush, who is tied for 8th in the VBL in wins with 14, proved to be the difference. The Pittsburgh right-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-2 Pirates win. Bush, now 14-6, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 8, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. Damaso Marte earned the save for Pittsburgh, his 25th of the year.
Doug Mientkiewicz had a key at-bat with one out in the bottom of the third for Pittsburgh. With a runner on 3rd and the Pirates leading 2-1, he grounded out, driving in 1 run.
"David mixed and matched," said Pittsburgh manager Kevin Birdwell.
The 10th-place Pirates are 70-57.
