Stratford turned a good effort from starter Amdre Nova into a win over the Hartford Whalers at The Lockar Room. The final score was 4-2. The winning pitcher was Nova, now 8-5. He tossed 5 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 6. The win elevated the Cosmos to 66-40.

The Cosmos got an important contribution from shortstop Tony Torres, who in the bottom of the first punched a 2-0 fastball into left for a 2-run home run. It was his 16th home run of the season and put the Cosmos ahead, 4-0.

In postgame comments to the Stratford Daily, Nova said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
