Moss goes 3-for-5 in Montreal Win
|
The Montreal Expos stopped the Cleveland Guardians, 9-3, at Jacobs Field. The Expos got a big game from Brandon Moss, who was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. The winning pitcher was Bruce Chen. He's now 9-6. He went 6.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits for the Expos. The 16th-place Guardians have lost 5 consecutive games.
Montreal used the hitting of Brandon Phillips to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Expos on top, 3-0. For the game, Phillips had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Montreal manager Tom Johnston.
