Scouts Roll to 8-3 Win Over Martins
Starting pitcher Jack Flaherty pitched well enough to help the Kansas City Scouts beat the Saint Louis Martins, 8-3. Flaherty went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 4, and struck out 3. His record improves to 5-6. With the win, Kansas City pushed its record to 53-34.

The Martins had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Scouts going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 31-year old shortstop Steve Murphy came to the plate. Murphy hit a 2-run double on a 3-1 cutter from Saint Louis hurler Paul Hale. It was Murphy's 24th double of the year.

"We played hard and won," said Flaherty. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
